Masai Mara is one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves. Acacia dotted plains, tree-lined rivers and woodlands are abundant with wildlife and an array of birdlife. Game viewing is spectacular year round; you may see a pride of lions stalking their prey, observe a herd of elephant and their fascinating social structure, or see pods of hippo wallowing in the rivers. The great wildebeest migration is one of nature’s wonders; an estimated two million animals migrate in a year-round pattern through Tanzania and Kenya, following the rain.
During your stay in the Mara, you will also visit a traditional Maasai village to learn more about their ancient culture and traditions, which they still practice today. Meet the elders of the village, the warriors and the women and children who love to entertain with song and dance.

Spend two days in Mahale with activities.
The forest is home to chimps and many other animals, including bushbucks, bush pigs and an incredible array of birds and butterflies. It’s also inhabited by nine species of primate.
Chimp trekking happens during every full day that you’ll spend at Greystoke; head off first thing in the morning, in two groups of six, accompanied by guides and trackers. Once you’ve found the chimps, spend 1 hour with them and watch as they play and groom on the floor around you. Sightings are never guaranteed, some days the chimps are right behind camp and the next day they could be high in the mountains. Guests sometimes have quite a trek to find the chimps, following paths through the forest, which can get steep and the walking can be strenuous. So do bring good footwear, ‘bush coloured’ clothing and longs for trekking in the forest.
A stay at Greystoke may include a gentle hike in the forest up to one of the many waterfalls, before cooling off for a dip in one of the ice-cold rock pools; dinner on the beach under the stars; sundowners on the dhow; kayaking and fishing in the clear waters of the lake.
